CIMS-UIHMT Group of Colleges signs MoU with Kumaon Regimental Centre; 40% tuition fee concession for serving, retired personnel, Agniveers and their dependents
Ranikhet: In a significant initiative aimed at providing quality and employment-oriented higher education to the children of soldiers and their families, CIMS and UIHMT Group of Colleges, Dehradun, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kumaon Regimental Centre, Ranikhet.
Under the MoU, Veer Naris, Veer Matas and dependents of soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice will receive a 100% waiver on tuition fees for eligible courses offered by the institution.
In addition, serving and retired military personnel, Agniveers and their dependents will be eligible for a 40% concession on tuition fees.
CIMS and UIHMT Group of Colleges offer more than 30 professional and employment-oriented programmes, including Nursing, Paramedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Law, Management and Hotel Management.
The initiative aims to provide better higher education opportunities to members of military families and help young people become skilled, self-reliant and empowered.
“Education and the Right Opportunity Can Change a Young Person’s Life”: Brigadier Mahadik
Brigadier Vijayant Mahadik, Commandant, Kumaon Regimental Centre, said that quality education and the right opportunity at the right time can change the direction of a young person’s life.
He said the initiative for the children of military families is a small but significant step in this direction.
Brigadier Mahadik noted that CIMS and UIHMT Group of Colleges offer several professional programmes for which trained manpower is in demand not only in India but also abroad.
He further informed that the institution has recently signed MoUs with the Garhwal Rifles Regiment and the Indian Army as well. The agreement with the Kumaon Regimental Centre will further expand educational opportunities for military families.
He thanked the institution for the initiative and urged soldiers and their dependents of the Kumaon and Naga Regiments to make maximum use of the educational benefits.
“Serving Military Families is an Honour and Privilege”: Lalit Mohan Joshi
Advocate Lalit Mohan Joshi, Chairman of CIMS and UIHMT Group of Colleges, said that serving military families is a matter of honour and privilege for the institution.
He said that respect for soldiers who dedicate themselves to the defence of the nation should not remain limited to words, but should be reflected through concrete efforts to strengthen the education, skills and future of their children.
He added that the MoU is an important step towards providing higher education opportunities to military families while making them more capable, self-reliant and empowered.
Drug-Free Awareness Campaign Reaches More Than 1,400 Agniveers
A special drug-free awareness campaign was also organised during the programme to educate young people about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
More than 1,400 Agniveers were sensitised against drug abuse during the campaign. Around 500 students from Army Public School and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ranikhet, also participated in the initiative.
Military officers, personnel, Agniveers, students and their family members were administered an oath to stay away from drugs and adopt a healthy, disciplined and positive lifestyle.
Lalit Joshi, Chairman of Sajag India and an educationist, said that protecting young people from substance abuse is a collective and moral responsibility of society. He appealed to youngsters to engage in education, sports, fitness and other positive activities and stay completely away from drugs.

The programme was attended by Colonel Mohit Verma, Deputy Commandant, Kumaon Regimental Centre; Colonel Shashank; Lieutenant Colonel Gajendra Singh Uparari; Lieutenant Colonel Abhinav; Major Aman; and Colonel J.S. Negi, Administrative Officer, CIMS and UIHMT Group of Colleges, along with around 300 military officers, personnel, Agniveers, students and their family members.
